Chrome does not auto-update extensions you loaded from a zip file. Updating takes about a minute and does not require signing in to Orion again. Current latest version: v0.4.20. v0.4.20 fixes connection credentials expiring after about one day. After upgrading, the extension renews credentials before they expire, so you no longer need to generate a new connection code every day. If an older version has already disconnected, connect it manually one last time before upgrading.

When to update

Update when any of these is true:
  • You see an “Orion browser extension update available” desktop notification, or an update banner at the top of Orion pages;
  • The extension icon in the browser toolbar shows a blue ↑ badge, and the popup shows the new version number;
  • Your extension version is older than the latest version at the top of this page. You can see your current version in the Version row of Settings → My Browser, or on the extension card at chrome://extensions.

How to update

  1. Download the latest zip from the Browser extension page and unzip it to get the orion-browser-operator-v0.4.22 folder.
  2. Open chrome://extensions.
  3. On the Orion Browser Operator card, click Remove to delete the old version.
  4. Click Load unpacked and select the newly unzipped folder.
  5. Back in Orion Agent, open Settings → My Browser and confirm the Version row shows the new version. If it shows as disconnected, click Connect my browser to reconnect.
Do not update while the extension is running a task: removing the extension interrupts any browser operation in progress. Wait for the task to finish, or stop it from the page overlay first.
If the extension is installed on multiple machines or Chrome profiles, update each one separately.

Do I need to reconnect after updating?

Usually not. The extension keeps its connection configuration and reconnects on its own after being reloaded. If Settings → My Browser shows disconnected, click Connect my browser once — no need to download again or sign in to Orion again.
